Columbia Athletics Celebrates Black History Month; Leslie Fitzpatrick '01CC

Men's Soccer star Leslie "Tiger" Fitzpatrick left a lasting impact at Columbia, one that is still felt today. Fitzpatrick still holds coveted spots in the Columbia record books including #9 on all time career goals, #3 for single season assists, #3 for career assists, and #7 for career points. During his career at Columbia he was a four-time All-Ivy and two-time All-Region honoree.

Columbia Athletics Hosts Young Alumni Networking Night

The Office of Enrichment Services hosted its second annual Young Alumni Networking Night on Monday, February 13 in the Dodge Fitness Center Blue Gym. Student-athletes from all class years took advantage of the opportunity, while alumni represented a variety of industries including tech, marketing, finance, law, sports and business attended the event.

In recent years, the sport of track & field has evolved. New shoes, new gear, new training surfaces, new training methods and an influx of talented athletes to the Columbia Athletics program have led to an essential re-writing of the Columbia track & field record books. But there is one name that has withstood the test of time: Dr. Albert J. Thompson, whose throwing records have remained untouched for over six decades.

Judie Lomax was a two-time NCAA Division I rebounding champion and the first Columbia women's basketball player to be named Ivy League Player of the Year. She was instrumental to the Lions' unit that set a school record with 18 wins and finished the 2009-10 season third in the Ivy League with a record of 9-5.

Standing 6-foot-4, George Gregory was the second African-American ever to play basketball at Columbia and in 1931 he became the nation's first to be voted All-American.

Columbia Athletics Celebrates Black History Month; A Look at Erinn Smart '01BC

A 2001 graduate of Barnard, Smart was a two-time All-American for Columbia in women's foil. Twice she reached the finals at the NCAA Championships and each time, she fell just short and gained second place. Smart did not let that derail her fencing career as she won the United States National Championship in 1998, 2002, 2004 and 2008.

98 Percent of 2016 Class Secures Post-Graduate Plans

According to the Office of Enrichment Services Fall 2016 Employment Report, ninety-eight percent of Columbia University's 2016 graduating student-athletes either secured full-time employment or are involved in other career-oriented post-graduate plans, the Athletic Department announced on Wednesday.
