Columbia Athletics Celebrates Black History Month; A Look at Judie Lomax '10BC

Judie Lomax was a two-time NCAA Division I rebounding champion and the first Columbia women's basketball player to be named Ivy League Player of the Year. She was instrumental to the Lions' unit that set a school record with 18 wins and finished the 2009-10 season third in the Ivy League with a record of 9-5.

Standing 6-foot-4, George Gregory was the second African-American ever to play basketball at Columbia and in 1931 he became the nation's first to be voted All-American.

Columbia Athletics Celebrates Black History Month; A Look at Erinn Smart '01BC

A 2001 graduate of Barnard, Smart was a two-time All-American for Columbia in women's foil. Twice she reached the finals at the NCAA Championships and each time, she fell just short and gained second place. Smart did not let that derail her fencing career as she won the United States National Championship in 1998, 2002, 2004 and 2008.

98 Percent of 2016 Class Secures Post-Graduate Plans

According to the Office of Enrichment Services Fall 2016 Employment Report, ninety-eight percent of Columbia University's 2016 graduating student-athletes either secured full-time employment or are involved in other career-oriented post-graduate plans, the Athletic Department announced on Wednesday.

Columbia Opens New Indoor Practice Facility, Bubble at Baker

Columbia varsity sports teams now have access to a brand-new indoor winter practice facility as the University officially opened its Seasonal Air-Supported Structure (SASS) at Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium, Campbell Family Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education Peter Pilling announced on Friday afternoon.

Columbia Representatives Attend Apple Training Institute

Two Columbia University student-athletes—football player Charlie Flores and soccer player Natalie Ambrose—attended the 2017 APPLE Training Institute, an annual three-day national training forum for student-athletes, athletics administrators and campus partners dedicated to substance abuse prevention and health promotion of college athletes.
