With the score deadlocked at 3-3, Columbia junior Andrea Kevakian claimed a 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 win to give the Lions a 4-3 women's tennis victory over Florida Atlantic Friday afternoon at the FAU Tennis Center. The victory concluded Columbia's 2018 Spring Break Trip as the Lions claimed two wins in three matches over six days in the Miami area.

The Lions will play Marquette in a neutral site matchup at the FIU Tennis Center at 10 a.m. Tuesday, take on host and No. 43 ranked Florida International on Thursday at 1 p.m., then meet Florida Atlantic on Friday at 10 a.m.

A comeback attempt fell just short for the Columbia women's tennis team as Maryland came away with a 4-3 decision Saturday afternoon at Dick Savitt Tennis Center. With the score tied at 3-3, Maryland's Millie Stretton won a 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 match over Columbia junior Sarah Hu for the victory. That sealed the win for Maryland, but there were many positives for Columbia's youthful squad.

Jennifer Kerr Earns Evelyn Houseman Sportsmanship Award

First-year Columbia women's tennis player Jennifer Kerr was named the recipient of the 2018 Evelyn Houseman Lifetime Junior Sportsmanship Award, announced in January by the Southern California Tennis Association (SCTA). Kerr was presented with the honor at the SCTA banquet held on February 5 at UCLA's Los Angeles Tennis Center Straus Clubhouse.
