NEW YORK - Join the Columbia Men's Soccer team in supporting Grassroot Soccer on Friday, April 21 at 7 p.m., as the Lions take the field at Rocco B. Commisso Stadium on alumni weekend against St. John's.

Admission is free, but the team is asking for donations to Grassroot Soccer, an international adolescent health organization that educates, inspires, and mobilizes young people to overcome their greatest health challenges and live healthier, more productive lives.

Grassroot Soccer's work in Southern Africa and throughout the world connects at-risk young people with the mentors, information, and health services they need to thrive, and empowers adolescents to make educated choices about pressing health challenges such as HIV/AIDS, sexual health, gender-based violence, and malaria.

"We are very excited to partner with Grassroot Soccer for our game tonight," said midfielder Stan Sandoval. "It is always important to give back to those that are less fortunate, and by partnering with Grassroot Soccer we are able to help children in need that otherwise would be very difficult to reach."

To date, Grassroot Soccer has reached more than 1.5 million young people in 50 countries. All funds will support Grassroot Soccer's work in Africa! All it takes is $25 to support one at-risk young person with life-changing programming. For more information, visit the Grassroot Soccer webpage.
