Harrisonburg, Va. - For the second-consecutive year, the Columbia archery team dominated the field at the Eastern Regional Outdoor Collegiate Championships (EROCC) over the weekend while defending their crowns in both the recurve and compound divisions.
The recurve team enlisted the talent of rookies Aileen Yu, Bianca Gotuaco and junior Joy Chang, while the compound squad boasted veterans in junior Judy Zhou, senior Julie Hoffmann and sophomore Elizabeth Gunawan.
The individual medal matches was all Columbia blue, with Yu leading the way with a recurve gold medal victory over Gotuaco. Last year’s gold medal winner, sophomore Jenny Han also edged teammate Joy Chang for a recurve bronze medal win.
Columbia capped the weekend placing six archers on the 2016 All-East Team, including Yu, , , , and The All-East team is decided by an archer's combined score from the indoor and outdoor regional competitions.
Two Columbia archers began the weekend being named as All-American Academic Team. Hoffmann was selected in the compound and Gotuaco in the recurve.
