Nich Lee Parker
Position: Head Coach

Nich Lee Parker was named head coach of Columbia's lightweight rowing program in September of 2013.

Lee Parker spent the last four years with the Lions, two as an assistant coach for the Columbia heavyweight program before spending the last two seasons on Scott Alwin’s lightweight rowing coaching staff.

In 2013, Lee Parker assisted Alwin to guiding the lightweights to a bronze medal at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championships and a berth in the Henley Royal Regatta.

“We are thrilled to retain Nich at Columbia to be our Head Coach of Lightweight Rowing,” said Dr. M. Dianne Murphy, Director, Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education. “He is a hard-working, talented coach who possesses the qualities and competencies to lead our Lightweight program to continued success.”

Lee Parker joined the Columbia varsity heavyweight rowing coaching staff in 2010 while assisting with the U.S. Rowing Boys Junior National Development team.  With the junior team, Lee Parker coached crews to two National Championship titles and two silver medal performances at the 2009 USRowing Club Nationals. At the same time, Lee Parker designed the team's physical training program.

From 2007-09, Lee Parker also did double duty, serving as the program coordinator and head coach of the New Haven Rowing Club while assisting with the Yale varsity heavyweight crew.

During his time at Yale, Lee Parker assisted with three Yale crews that placed among the top-12 at the 2008 IRA Regatta and led the third varsity to a fourth-place finish at the 2009 Eastern Sprints.

Prior to his time in Connecticut, Lee Parker was the head freshmen coach at Purdue. In 2006-07, he led the Boilermakers' freshmen to regional gold and silver medals and the freshmen lightweight eight to a bronze medal finish at the Dad Vail Regatta.

Lee Parker graduated from The Ohio State University, where he also was a varsity women's rowing assistant coach in 2005-06.  Parker holds a master's degree from Purdue in Sports Administration and Pedagogy.
