WESTERLY, R.I. -- Sophomore Andrew Kim shot a team-best round of 73 as the Columbia men's golf team stands in fourth place at The Classic at Shelter Bay after day one. The Lions, who are the event's defending champion, shot 302 and stand 11 shots off the pace of Dartmouth.

On a blustery day at Shelter Bay Golf Course, Kim shot 37 on the front nine and shaved a stroke off his back nine to finish at two-over par on his round. Kim is three strokes behind Dartmouth's James Pleat, who shot one-under 70 and was the only player in the 84-person field to shoot in red numbers.

Junior Michael Yiu closed two strokes behind his teammate at 75, as did first-year Brandon Jowers who is competing in the event as an individual. Senior Brendan Doyle and sophomore Jordan Lee each shot 77, while junior Stephen LaRouere rounded out Columbia's competitors tied for 50th.
