TUXEDO PARK, N.Y. - Columbia men's golf team will begin its season this Saturday, September 8 when it partners with The Tuxedo Club, Army and Folds of Honor Foundation for a special Patriot Golf Day event to benefit Folds of Honor Foundation. Columbia's men's golf program will make a monetary donation to Folds of Honor Foundation in support of the event.

Tuxedo Club members will have the opportunity to donate $50 to Folds of Honor Foundation and join the Army and Columbia University men's golf teams on the course during a friendly scrimmage.

Each collegiate golfer will be paired with a member of the opposing team for an 18-hole singles scrimmage and Tuxedo Club members will round out each foursome, competing in their own separate team contest. The morning matches begin at 9 am (shotgun) and participants will join the golf teams for lunch before the collegiate players return to the course for a four-ball match in the afternoon.

"This is a great opportunity for the Tuxedo Club to promote a worthy cause and to have some fun with two collegiate golf programs in the state," said Chris Muldoon, PGA Professional at the Tuxedo Club. "We're excited to offer this event to our members and even more excited to help military families by contributing to Patriot Golf Day and the Folds of Honor."

Patriot Golf Day, held over Labor Day Weekend (August 31-September 3), is the flagship fundraiser for the Folds of Honor Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides educational scholarships for the children and spouses of military men and women disabled or killed while serving our great nation. Patriot Golf Day is jointly supported by The PGA of America and the United States Golf Association.

Since its inception in 2007, PGA Professionals have helped raise more than $12.8 million through Patriot Golf Day events, such as this one, allowing Folds of Honor to award more than 3,600 educational scholarships. Folds of Honor was founded by former F-16 fighter pilot, PGA Professional and USGA member Major Dan Rooney.
