Menís Golf Continues Fall Season at The McLaughlin This Weekend

NEW YORK - The Columbia men's golf team will travel to Farmingdale, N.Y. this weekend to compete at The McLaughlin, hosted by St. John's. A total of 36 holes will be played Saturday, with the first grouping teeing off at 7:30 a.m., with the final 18 holes to follow on Sunday.

Bethpage State Park (Red Course) will serve as the host for The McLaughlin. Bethpage (Black Course) is famous for hosting a pair of U.S. Opens, 2002 and 2009, and has been the site for the McLaughlin since its inception. The Red Course plays 7,014 yards, par-70.

A total of 16 teams will be vying for the 2012 McLaughlin championship, including reigning champ West Florida. Fellow Ivy League schools Dartmouth and Harvard will also be in action.

Groupings will begin on the first and tenth tees Saturday. Columba's first student-athlete will tee off at 8:30 a.m., with each of the next four groupings teeing off ten minutes after one another.

The McLaughlin is the second tournament of the fall for Columbia. The Lions took on Army last weekend, falling to the Black Knights, 7-4. The dual match was part of the Patriot Golf Day, an event to raise money for the Folds of Honor Foundation.
