Narayana and Schnur Defeat Three Ranked Doubles Teams to Reach Consolation Finals at ITA All-American Championships
TULSA, Okla. - (10/4/12) The Columbia men's doubles tandem of Ashok Narayana and Max Schnur lost a close match to open the main draw of the ITA All-American Championships hosted by the University of Tulsa.
Going up against the second-seeded duo of Shaun Bernstein and Evan King from Michigan, Narayana and Schnur kept the match close throughout, but fell 9-7.
While the rest of the Columbia men's tennis team is competing at home this weekend as part of the Columbia Classic, Narayana and Schnur will continue action in Tulsa, Okla. in the consolation draw.
(10/5/12) - Narayana and Schnur won a pair of matches in the consolation draw Friday. Columbia's doubles pair eased by Tulsa's Grant and Tristan Jackson, the 50th-ranked team in the nation, 8-1, before defeating LSU's Boris Arias and Chris Simpson, currently the 24th-ranked doubles team in the nation, 8-5.
(10/6/12) - Narayana and Schnur advanced to the consolation finals with a 6-3, 7-6(7) seimfinals victory over Tennessee's John Collins and Hunter Reese who were ranked sixth in the ITA's national preseason poll. The 35th-ranked duo of Hernus Pieters and Ben Wagland from Georgia will face Schnur and Narayana in the finals Sunday.
(10/7/12) - Schnur and Narayana won the opening set, but Pieters and Wagland took the next two to win the consolation final of the main draw singles competition at the ITA All-American Championships. The Georgia team captured the match by a score of 3-6, 7-6(5), 6-1.
