HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - Wrestling for the second time in as many days, the Columbia grapplers fell on the road to the Hofstra Pride, 23-9.

Columbia fell behind early in the match, dropping the first three matches to give Hofstra a 10-0 advantage. No. 8 Steve Santos got the Lions on the board with an 8-2 decision over Cody Ruggirello in the 149-pound bout. With two wins this weekend, Santos is now 18-2 on the year.

The 157-pound bout was the closest of the day, but it would go in favor of the Pride. Tyler Banks edged No. 17 Jake O'Hara, 4-3 to return the Hofstra lead to 10 points.

Josh Houlsdworth notched his second win of the weekend, downing Nick Terdick with a 9-5 decision in the 165-pound bout. The Houldsworth victory closed the gap to 13-6, but Columbia would win just one of the remaining four matches.

Drew Rebling scored a 7-3 decision in the 184-pound bout, but Hofstra would close out the 23-9 triumph with wins in the final two weight classes.

Ivy League competition begins for Columbia Saturday, Feb. 2, when No. 8 Cornell travels to New York City for a 6 p.m. match inside the University (Blue) Gym.
