PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Columbia wrestling stands in fifth place with 42 points and nine wrestlers still alive after the first session of the 2013 EIWA Championships. Matt Bystol (133), Steve Santos (149), Jake O'Hara (157) and Josh Houldsworth (165) have advance to the semifinals of the championship round slated to begin at 5:30 p.m. tonight.

The total of four is the most wrestlers Columbia has ever had reach the semifinals of the championship round since the 1930s. Columbia last had three wrestlers reach the semis at the 2005 EIWA Championships held at Navy.

Santos highlighted the first round for Columbia with a pair of falls as the top-seed of the 149-pound bracket. Bystol upset the top seed in the 133-pound bracket, Vincent Dellafave from Rutgers, with a 6-1 decision in the quarterfinals. Houldsworth also provided Columbia with an upset, downing the second-seeded Corey Lear from Bucknell with a 10-3 decision to reach the semifinals of the 165-pound bracket. At 157 pounds, O'Hara opened the tournament with a major decision over Princeton's Brandon Rolnick.

The semifinals and wrestlebacks will begin tonight at 5:30 p.m. at the Rutgers Athletic Complex. Check back tonight for a complete recap of the days events from Piscataway, N.J.
