No. 51 Women’s Tennis Cruises Past Fordham, 6-1
In doubles action, only the top two matches were played with Columbia coming away victorious in both. In the No. 1 match, Nicole Bartnik and Crystal Leung took down Angelika Dabu and Bella Genkina, 8-3. Bianca Sanon and Ioana Alecsiu followed that up with an 8-4 victory over Julie Leong and Anika Novacek.
The domination continued in singles, with Columbia capturing the top three matches in straight sets, as well as winning the No. 5 and 6 matches by default. No. 56 Bartnik corralled her second win of the day, toppling Dabu with back-to-back 6-2 sets.
Katarina Kovacevic played a close first set against Genkina, but came away with the 7-5 win and then took the second set 6-3. Alecsiu notched her second win of the day, blanking Leong in the first set before recording the win with a 6-3 score in the second set.
The Lions will have 10 days off before taking the court at UT-Arlington on March 18 in the first contest of a three-match road trip through Texas.
