NEW YORK – The Columbia men’s basketball program has announced its schedule for the upcoming 2013-14 season. The Lions will begin competition on Saturday, Nov. 9 when they welcome Maryland-Eastern Shore to Levien Gymnasium for a 7 p.m. tip.

Columbia will remain at home for a contest against Manhattan on Tuesday, Nov. 12 before hitting the road.

On Friday, Nov. 15, Columbia will take on Tom Izzo’s Michigan State Spartans in East Lansing in the first meeting between the schools.

The following week, the Lions trek to the west coast for three games at the University of Portland from Nov. 21-23. Columbia opens the slate against North Texas, then faces the host Pilots before wrapping up the trip against Idaho.

A contest with American on Tuesday, Nov. 26 will await the Lions back at Levien Gym before Columbia alternates road and home games to start December. A visit to Elon on Dec. 1 starts the month, followed by a home game against Army on Dec. 4 and a road showdown at Bucknell on Dec. 7.

The Lions close out the fall semester at home against UMass-Lowell on Dec. 9 and will get back to work after a 12-day layoff to face Fairleigh Dickinson on Dec. 21 in Morningside Heights.

Up next, will be a battle in Brooklyn against St. John’s at Barclays Center as part of the Winter Hoops Festival on Dec. 28 at 3 p.m.

Columbia faces a quick turnaround when they pay a visit to Colgate on Dec. 30 before opening up a four-game homestand.

The Lions square off against St. Francis (N.Y.), followed by the final non-conference tune-ups against Stony Brook (Jan. 8) and Central Pennsylvania (Jan. 11).

Ivy League play commences on Saturday, Jan. 18 against Cornell as part of a doubleheader with the women’s squad. Columbia completes the home-and-home slate with the Big Red the following Saturday on Jan. 25 to open a five-game road swing.

The next weekend, the Lions take on Yale (Jan. 31) and Brown (Feb. 1) before making the short trip to Princeton (Feb. 7) and Penn (Feb. 8).

Columbia returns home for alumni weekend where they take on defending Ivy League Champion Harvard on Feb. 14 and Dartmouth on Feb. 15. The Lions then host Brown (Feb. 21) and Yale (Feb. 22).

On Feb. 28 and March 1, Columbia will journey to Dartmouth and Harvard for its final road games. The final weekend of the season will commence with a March 7 tilt against Penn and the season finale will feature Princeton on March 8.
