Benjamin Waruch joined the Columbia cross country and track & field coaching staff in October 2013. Waruch comes to Columbia following a standout four-year track & field career at the University of Connecticut.
He served as a two-year captain for the UCONN Track and Field Team. Waruch was one of the programs top runners in the decathlon and heptathlon events. He helped lead UCONN to a total of three Big East Championship titles.
In the decathlon, the New York state native became a 7-time All Big East First Team honoree and a 7-time All East First team honoree. In 2013, he went on to earn a spot to compete in the decathlon at the Pan-American Championships.
He earned a bachelor of science degree in coaching and administration from UCONN in 2013.
