NEW YORK – The Colgate women’s basketball team received 19 points and nine rebounds from junior Carole Harris in Saturday’s 72-44 victory over Columbia.

With four first half boards, Columbia senior Courtney Bradford became the 11th player in program history to go over 500 rebounds. She now has 503, nine shy of entering the top-10 in Columbia women's basketball history.

Junior Miwa Tachibana led the Lions with 11 points, reaching double figures for the sixth time this season. Columbia also got solid production from first Tori Oliver, who contributed nine points and eight boards, while senior Taylor Ward added eight points and matched her career-high with seven rebounds.

The Lions got out to an early lead on the Raiders, with Bradford recording a pair of baskets before the first media timeout to give Columbia an 8-4 edge. Colgate responded with a 17-7 run over the next six minutes of action, capped by a Paige Kriftcher triple.

Amara Mbionwu spurned a 6-1 Columbia run with a layup at the 8:52 mark that Ward punctuated with two easy points on a fast break, cutting the Raiders’ lead to 22-19. Colgate pulled away in the final minute of the first half, scoring the final four points before intermission to take a 34-26 lead into the locker room.

Columbia held the advantage on the boards at halftime, 25-22, including 11 off the offensive glass. Ward grabbed five, while Oliver Mbionwu and Bradford each had four.

Ward gave the Lions life early in the second stanza with a triple at 17:38 to keep it a seven-point contest, 36-29, but the Raiders would steadily increase their lead throughout the half. Columbia’s offense struggled to find its rhythm for a large portion of the period, allowing Colgate to string together a 14-0 run that put the game out of reach.

The Lions will look to bounce back Monday night when they make the short journey north to New Rochelle to take on Iona at 7 p.m.
