NEW YORK - For the 14th year, the Columbia men and women's track & field teams will compete in the prestigious Armory Collegiate Invitational presented by NYRR this weekend at the New York New Balance Track & Field Center at the Armory in Washington Heights. The invitational was selected as the USTFCCCA Division I National meet of the week. The Lions compete against some the nation’s best athletes in the two-day meet from Friday, Feb. 7 - Saturday, Feb. 8
The women's 3k run at 9:30 a.m. will kick-off the Invitational on Friday and the opening day will conclude with the men's distance medley relay at 8p.m. Saturday’s events will begin with the women’s 5k at 8:30 a.m. and will finish with the men's 4x400m relay championship at 5:42 p.m.
General admission for per day of competition is $20 for adults, $10 for students with I.D. and $30 for reserved section tickets. Tickets can be purchased at the door on the day of the event.
The field will have over 90 teams represented, including several perianal power college programs and a few teams from other countries around the world. The women's side will feature entries from three teams currently ranked in the USTFCCA NCAA Division I top 25 poll, including No. 6 Arkansas, No. 15 South Carolina and No. 17 Mississippi State. The men's side will have entries from five of the top 25, including No. 1 Arkansas, No. 5 Wisconsin, No. 8 Arizona, No. 10 Alabama and No. 16 Cornell.
