Menís Golf Remains in 13th After Two Rounds at The Desert Shootout

GOODYEAR, Ariz. – After 36 holes of action, the Columbia men’s golf team is in 13th place at the 2014 Desert Shootout at the Palm Valley Country Club.

Brandon Jowers is the top Columbia individual, completing the first two rounds tied for 24th after shooting rounds of 72 and 70. Senior Andrew Kim is the next Lion, coming in tied for 52nd with scores of 74 and 73 in the opening rounds.

Harrison Shih shot an opening round 71, but his 77 in the second round puts him in a tie for 60th with one round left to play. First-years Arjuna Anday and Christopher Chu close out the Columbia lineup in 73rd and 78th, respectively. Anday has posted two straight rounds of 76, while Chu shot a 76 through the first 18 and one stroke worse on Friday.

The Lions also have three golfers competing as individuals. Tharusyan Pillay in tied for 64th with a combined score of 149, while Mert Selamet is tied for 67th (150) and J. Christian FitzGerald is tied for 82nd (155).

The final round of competition will Saturday at 10:30 a.m. ET.
