RIO DE JANEIRO - Former Columbia University women's swimming standout Katie Meili '13CC took the bronze medal in the 100-meter breaststroke at the Olympic Games Monday night. Meili clocked in at 1:06.00, finishing behind fellow American Lilly King by just 0.22 seconds.

The Colleyville, Texas, native becomes the first Columbia student-athlete to medal since 2008 when Erinn Smart '01BC and James Williams '07CC took silver in fencing at the Beijing Olympics. She becomes the second member of the swimming and diving program to earn a spot on the podium since Cristina Teuscher '00CC.
