NEW YORK — The Columbia volleyball team (13-9, 8-4 Ivy) wraps up the 2016 season this weekend with a road trip to Penn and Princeton. The Lions get the trip started on Friday, visiting Penn (5-7 Ivy) for a 6 p.m. start at the Palestra. The season then comes to a close on Saturday against Princeton (11-1 Ivy) at 5 p.m.

TOP NOTES
• Columbia has a chance to tie or have its most successful Ivy League season in program history ... The Lions' best Ivy League record is 9-5, which they accomplished in both 2011 and 2012 ... One win would get Columbia to 9-5, while two wins would get Columbia to 10-4.

• Senior Anja Malesevic was named Ivy League Player of the Week on Monday ... Malesevic led Columbia in kills (31), kills per set (4.43), aces (7), aces per set (1.00), total points (40.0) and points per set (5.7) last week ... It was Malesevic's first Player of the Week award and the third this season for the Lions.

• The Lions will be looking avenge a 3-0 loss to Princeton from October 7 ... The Tigers handed Columbia its only Ivy League loss this season at home.

SOME OF THE NATION’S BEST
• First-year Chichi Ikwuazom enters the weekend top 20 in the NCAA in both hitting percentage (.411) and blocks per set (1.41) ... Senior libero Cassie Wes checks in at No. 3 in digs per set (5.45), and was ranked as high as No. 2 on Oct. 2 ... First-year Grace Campbell is ranked No. 58 nationally in assists per set (10.47) ... Ikwuazom, Wes and Campbell all lead the Ivy League.

IVY LEAGUE UPDATE
• Columbia is third in the Ivy League standings at 8-4, two games back of Yale (10-2) and three back of first-place Princeton (11-1) ... Columbia’s best Ivy League mark is 9-5, doing so in both 2011 and 2012 ... Columbia’s best Ivy League finish was a tie for second in 2012 ... The Lions posted their first 3-0 Ivy League start in program history this season and are 3-4 since.

WES SETS ANOTHER RECORD
• Senior libero Cassie Wes recorded a career-high 33 digs in only three sets last Friday (Oct. 28) in a sweep of Brown, setting the program record for digs in a three-set match ... Her 33 digs also rank third in program history for any match, behind Cassie Ligh’s 35 in five sets from 2006 and Charlee Dyroff’s 39 in five sets from 2011 ... Wes’s performance helped the Lions to their first road win against Brown since 2012.

WES CHASING MORE
• Senior libero Cassie Wes enters the weekend with 425 digs this season, which currently tied for third in program history for a single season ... Last season, Wes recorded 434 digs, which ranks second all-time ... Wes has a chance to tie or break the single-season record of 473 held by Ellie Thomas from 2009, needing to average just over 24 digs per match through the final two matches of the season in order to do so ... The Atherton, Calif., native also comes into the weekend with 1,272 career digs, which is second all-time ... Last weekend, Wes passed Katie Beauregard (1999-02) for second (1,248 digs) ... The career record is 1,408, held by Ellie Thomas (2006-09) ... Wes became the fourth Lion in program history to record 1,000 career digs on September 17 against Fordham.

TAKING ADVANTAGE AT HOME
• The Lions posted an 11-3 record at home this season, including a mark of 6-1 in Ivy League play … It was Columbia' best record at home since going 12-2 in 2010 ... Columbia played 12 consecutive home matches from September 9 - October 8 ... The homestand included the Columbia Classic (Sep. 9-10), the Lion Invitational (Sep. 16-17) and its first five Ivy League matches ... It marked the longest homestand in program history in terms of both matches played (12) and total days (30).
