BUFFALO, N.Y. – In the first of a pair of weekend duals, the Columbia wrestling team was upended by Buffalo, 32-3.

The lone victory for the Lions came at 165 pounds, when Tyrel White got by Tyler Rill, 2-1. The wrestlers ended regulation in a 1-1 tie, but White was able to escape in the first 30-second ride-out and hold top position for the win.

At 125, Johnson Mai saw his first dual action of the season, but was unable to defeat Kyle Akins, dropping a 6-0 decision.

The Lions also saw Michael Bulkin in his first dual action of the season, but the rookie was topped by Nate Rose at 197. Bulkin was one of  four first-year’s to wrestle for Columbia, as Alec Kelly (133), Brock Morgan (157) and Donny Donnelly (184) also dropped matched in the dual.

Columbia will be back in action tomorrow, with a 1 p.m. dual at Binghamton which can be seen on America East.tv.
