STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Anna Williams won the long jump and Akua Obeng-Akrofi had a pair of top five finishes as the Columbia track & field teams competed at the Great Dane Classic at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island. 

Williams leaped out to a mark of 5.70m in her second meet of the indoor season. The mark was the second best of her career, right behind the 5.77m effort during her sophomore season of 2015.

Obeng-Akrofi put forth a career effort in the 500m run, taking third place in 1:12.89. The junior also impressed with a fifth place finish in the 200m dash at 24.72.

Other highlights from the women's team included Sydney Petersen taking fifth in the 500m in a career best 1:14.78, and Abigail Sharkey going sixth in the pole vault at 3.30m.

The men's team was highlighted by Robert O'Brien, who claimed fourth in the pole vault at a clear of 4.80m.

The Lions return to the track next weekend in the in a tri-meet with Dartmouth and Yale at the New York City Armory.
