Salt Lake City -  At the annual Archery Coaches Symposium over the weekend, Columbia archery head coach Derek Davis was honored with one of the 2016 Coach of The Year Awards. It is the second year Davis has been given the Doc Counsilman "Science" Award, also receiving the award in 2013.

The Doc Counsilman "Science" Award is given to a coach that utilizes scientific techniques/equipment as an integral part of his/her coaching methods, or has created innovative ways to use sport science.

Davis now a three-time Coach of the Year recipient, is not only the head coach of the Columbia archery team, but also a USA Archery Junior Dream Team coach, and an International Team Staff Coach, who has wholly dedicated his career to coaching archery, helping athletes to All-American honors and national championship titles.
