CAMBRIDGE, MA – No. 3 Men's Squash met their match on Saturday as they fell to No. 1 Harvard, 5-4, in the semi-finals of the 2017 Potter Cup (A Division) at CSA Team Nationals.
With the Lions trailing 4-0, Carter Robitaille rallied from an 0-2 deficit to win his match 3-2 and keep Columbia's hopes alive. Senior Rishi Tandon then won his match in three straight sets to bring the Lions within 2-4. Tandon is the only Columbia player to beat Harvard in their two matches this season.
But the Lions could not overcome losing their first four sets, as Adham Madi fell in three straight to give Harvard their fifth win, and the match victory.
Rahul Sehrawat picked up the win in the penultimate match of the day, avenging his loss to Harvard's Bryan Koh on February 4th. Osama Khalifa also got even with Harvard's Saadeldin Aboudaish with a 3-2 win in the final match of the day, with an 11-0 victory to close out the match.
Next up: Columbia will play for third place tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. against the loser of No. 1 Trinity/ No. 4 St. Lawrence University.
