ITHACA, N.Y.—The Columbia women’s tennis team opened Ivy League play with a 7-0 loss at Cornell on Saturday afternoon at the Reis Tennis Center.

Cornell claimed the doubles point to go up 1-0, then followed it by winning six straight singles matches. Cornell’s Madison Stevens gave the Big Red a 2-0 lead with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Columbia’s junior Adi Milstein at No. 6 singles. Alexandra D’Alecenzo won a 6-4, 6-1 win over Columbia’s sophomore Andrea Kevakian and Cornell’s Mariko Iinuma gave the Big Red a 4-0 lead with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Columbia first-year Renee Ren.

Cornell improves to 11-4 overall and 1-0 in the Ivy League. Columbia (4-11, 0-1 Ivy League) plays its second Ivy League match on Friday at Penn.
