PRINCETON, N.J.—Junior Joshua Suh finished in 16th place and senior Mert Selamet and first-year Cullen Chung both shot 71s to lead the Columbia men’s golf team to a ninth place team finish at the 31st annual Princeton Invitational Sunday at Springdale Golf Course.

Suh entered Sunday in fourth place after carding a two-under-par in Saturday’s two rounds. On Sunday he totaled two birdies (holes 4 and 12) en route to a 78. Bolstered by a three-under-par 68 in Saturday’s second round, Suh caught fire on the first round’s back nine. He parred the 10th and 11th holes, buried an eagle on the par-5 12th hole, then shot par on six straight holes. Using that momentum, the second round’s front nine saw him par the first four holes, and shoot birdies on three of the next four holes. Overall, in the second round, he fired five birdies including the fifth hole, back-to-back birdies on holes 7 and 8, holes 13 and 17.

Selamet and Chung both carded 71s in Sunday’s final round. Selamet opened Sunday’s final round on fire as he birdied the second and third holes, then birdied the 10th, 12th and 13th holes. He finished in 44th place with a 79-75-71-225 (+12) score after totaling nine birdies on the weekend.

Chung fired three birdies on the day and shot at least par on eight of the last nine holes. He finished the tournament in 48th place at 82-73-71-226 (+13).

Senior Christopher Chu finished the tournament in 40th place and second on Columbia’s leaderboard. He shot a 75 on Sunday with three birdies and totaled a 79-70-75-224 (+11). On Saturday, Chu came on strong in the second round’s back nine, carding birdies on four of his last five holes (14, 16, 17 and 18 holes). He led the Lions with six birdies on day one.

Rounding out Columbia scoring was senior Arjuna Anday, who finished 48th with a 76-78-72-226 (+13). Anday used three birdies to shoot a 72 on Sunday.

Columbia finished the tournament at plus-29 (306-286-289-881). Seton Hall claimed the team title at plus one (296-281-276-853). Seton Hall’s Lloyd Jefferson won the individual title at nine-under-par. He had a sizeable leading heading into Sunday’s final round.

Columbia was one of seven Ivy League programs who competed in the two-day, 54-hole Princeton Invite. The Springdale Golf Club has a par of 71 with a course length of 6,414 yards.
