BRONX, N.Y. Nell Crosby belted her way across the finish line first today with a time of 21:45.9 in the 6K course at the friendly confines of Van Cortlandt Park to lead women's cross country to a first place during the Columbia XC Invite. The Lions raced against Cornell, Brown and NYU during the first race of the 2017 season. 

The men's team posted a third place finish over the 8K course, behind first place Brown and second place Cornell. 

On the women's side, Crosby was one of six top-10 finishers for the Lions, including Erin Gregoire (third) at 22:01.1,  Fiona Danieu (fourth) at 22:03.0, Erin Melly (fifth) at 22:13.5, Chloe Binczyk (sixth) at 22:16.2, and Sarah Hardie (ninth) at 22:24.5. 

For the men, Dan Schumacher was the first finisher for Columbia in fifth place with a time of 26:55.6 in the 8K. Dominic Dywer crossed the line in 7th at 27:03.0 and Ryan Dearie and Chris Thompson finished in 15th and 16th place, respectively,at 27:23.1 and 27:25.1 to round out the top-four for the Lions.

Columbia will be back in action at Van Cortlandt Park next Friday for the Iona Meet of Champions at 10 a.m.
