STATE COLLEGE, Pa. —The Columbia women’s golf team finished the two-day, 54-hole Nittany Lion Invitational in 12th place Sunday at Penn State’s Blue Golf Course. Columbia concluded the invite with a 56-over-par 314-305-301-920.

 

In her first collegiate competition, first-year Katie Lee led the Lions with a 15th place performance with a six-over-par 75-75-72-222. Lee improved her standing nine spots from Saturday where she began in 24th place. On Sunday, she birdied or parred 17 of the 18 holes to finish at Even with a 72. For the three-round tournament, she ranked second in the field in pars with 42 and tied for third in par-3 scoring (3.00).

 

Sophomore Ridhima Dilawari finished in 43rd place with a 14-over-par 80-75-75-230. After a poor first round on Saturday, Dilawari concluded the back nine of the second round on fire as she carded four straight birdies to end the day. On Sunday, Dilawari totaled two birdies and finished the invitational with nine.

 

First-year Qingyi Symba Xu moved into 52nd place with an 18-over-par 80-77-77-234. On Sunday, Xu carded three consecutive birdies. Sophomore Emily Chu, competing as an individual, also checked in in 52nd place with an 18-over-par 73-82-79-234. She finished with five birdies in the invitational.

 

Rounding out Columbia’s scorers were junior Amy Ding, who finished in 63rd place at +24 (79-80-81-241) and first-year Kim Chiang, who concluded in 67th place at +26 (87-78-77-242).

 

Maryland shot a one-under-par to claim the team title with a 293-282-288-863, edging out second place and host Penn State.

 

Scoring for the Nittany Lion Invitational can be found on www.golfstat.com at this link. Fourteen teams are competing in the event including Columbia, Bucknell, Delaware, Harvard, Maryland, Ohio, Penn, host Penn State, Princeton, Rutgers, Seton Hall, South Florida, Yale and Youngstown State.

 

The event marks the first of four fall tournaments that the Lions will compete in. Columbia will also travel to the Springdale Golf Club for the Princeton Invitational (Sept. 30-Oct. 1), New Haven, Conn. to compete in the Yale Women’s Intercollegiate (Oct. 6-8) and Louisville, Ky. for the Louisville Cardinal Cup.
