NEW YORK – Delaware’s Greta Nauck scored four goals as the No. 8 Blue Hens came away with an 8-1 victory over the Columbia field hockey field Sunday afternoon. The Lions’ (7-6) lone goal was scored by Rebecca Pope in the 49th minute, her first of the season.
Delaware (10-4) applied pressure early and often, scoring three minutes in off a corner attempt. Lotte de Koning finished the play for her ninth of the season. Columbia was able to limit the damage over the next 20 minutes until Nauck doubled the advantage with a reverse sweep in the 22nd minute. The Blue Hens scored three more times before halftime to take a commanding 5-0 lead into the break.
Nauck completed the hat trick in the 41st minute before Pope broke up the shutout bid. The Lions drew a corner and after some nice passing, Katie Koester had two swipes that were turned away from Sydney Rhodes in net, who came on to start the second half. The second rebound found the stick of Pope, who slid the ball past the line.

Nauck’s performance gave her Delaware’s career goal record.
