Providence, R.I. – In the final road Ivy League dual-meet of the season, the Columbia women’s swimming & diving were edged by Brown 153-147 on Saturday, Jan. 20. In a meet that came down to wire, the Lions put together several of impressive wins throughout the afternoon.
The Lions were off to a strong start as the 200 medley relay squad of Julia Samson, Jessica Antiles, Susie Zhu and Kathleen O'Rourke combined for a winning time of 1:43.54. Clae Macnamara added an early win in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:15.20, while Jordan Ashmore took the crown in the 100 backstroke at 56.45.
Eva Crouse led a 1-2 punch in the 100 breaststroke with a winning time of 1:03.84and Jessica Antiles placed runner up at 1:04.31. Jessica He was sensational in the 200 butterfly with a first-place time of 2:03.51 and a critical 2-3-4 finish in the 200 backstroke kept the Lions going in a tight race. Lisa Zang clocked in as runner up at 2:02.54, followed by Jamie Lee (2:02.97) and Julia Samson (2:04.22).
Crouse earned her second win of the day in the 100 butterfly with a time of 55.94 with Jessica He taking second place in 56.10. Antiles followed with win in the 200 I.M. at 2:04.10, her fourth in Ivy League competition this season.
Up next, Columbia will travel to Seton Hall on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 12 p.m. in their final non-conference meet.
