PRINCETON, N.J.—First-year Arjun Puri led the Columbia men’s golf team with a 30th place finish in the final day of the Princeton Invitational Saturday at Springdale Golf Club. Columbia concluded the two-day, two-round invitational with a 10th place team finish at 25-over-par (294-299-593).
After Puri registered a career-low round 71 (Even) on Friday and shot a five-over-par 76 in Saturday’s final round for a 71-76-147. Puri finished the weekend with five total birdies. He carded four birdies in Friday’s first round including back-to-back birdies on holes 1 and 2.
First-year John Robertson finished three strokes behind Puri and concluded the weekend in 47th place at eight-over-par 70-80-150. He entered today’s final round in fifth place after shooting a career-low 70 on Friday. Robertson carded five birdies on Friday including back-to-back birdies on holes 2 and
First-year Dan Terrell also finished in 47th place with an eight-over-par 76-74-150. Terrell carded four birdies on the weekend.
Rounding out Columbia’s scorers were sophomore Cullen Chung, who finished in 50th place with a nine-over-par 77-74-151 and senior Curtis Chan, who concluded the weekend in 64th place with a 15-over-par 82-75-157. Chung shot a team-low 74 on Saturday as he carded one birdie and 13 pars. Chan made the biggest improvement from day one to day two as he shaved seven strokes off his Friday score with a 75 on Saturday.
Cornell’s Mike Graboyes won the individual title with a six-under-par 66-70-136, while Yale won the team title at plus-2 (289-281-570). Columbia was one 13 teams and seven Ivy League teams competing in the event, including host Princeton, Brown, Cornell, Georgetown, Harvard, Loyola, Md., Penn, Rider, Saint Joseph’s, Seton Hall, Temple
