PRINCETON, N.J. — The Columbia women’s rowing team competed at the Inaugural Ivy League Invitational on Saturday at Carnegie Lake. The Varsity Eight finished fourth in the morning session and was clipped by No. 7 Yale in the afternoon session.
Yale retained the Connell Cup by defeating the Lions and Penn in the morning with a time of 6:52.7. Columbia was fourth, completing the course in 7:14.3. Dartmouth also competed in the race and was third, 11 seconds in front of the Lions.
Columbia also raced in the Second Varsity Eight, Third Varsity Eight and Varsity Four. The Lions finished fourth out of four boats in the Second and Third Varsity Eights. The Varsity Four was third in a three-boat race against Dartmouth and Yale.
The afternoon session saw the Lions race against Yale and Cornell. The Bulldogs took the victory at 6:42 flat. Columbia was second with a time of 6:56.3, edging out the Big Red by two seconds.
Columbia’s Varsity Four and Second Varsity Eight took third-place finishes. The Lions went head-to-head against Yale in the Third Varsity Eight and were defeated by 38 seconds.

The Lions take a few weeks off from competition before heading for the Women's Sprints, April 29, at Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Massachusetts.
