HIGH SCHOOL

 

A 2018 graduate of DeMatha Catholic High School in Washington, D.C. where he played four years of varsity football for Head Coach Elijah Brooks … Voted team captain as a senior … Helped lead the Stags to three straight Washington Catholic Athletic Conference titles … Despite suffering injuries, threw for 702 yards and six touchdowns, completed 42 of 82 passes with a long of 74 yards in five games played as a senior … Injured in the season’s second game … Opened 2017 season on ESPN as DeMatha traveled to Las Vegas to play Bishop Gorman and threw for 268 yards and two touchdowns while completing 11 of 23 passes in a loss … Started one game as a junior in win over Bishop McNamara where he completed seven of 11 passes for 161 yards, threw for two touchdowns and rushed for another in win … Served as backup for three years for the Stags … Also played two years of lacrosse as a midfielder … Member of the National Honor Society … Four-year Principal’s Honor Roll student … Involved in a variety of community service activities including a service trip to Camden, N.J., a retirement home near his high school, a kitchen for the homeless in Washington DC and is actively involved in his church with its youth programs.

Born Tyler Harrison Lenhart on January 31, 2000 … Son of Todd and Jen Lehnart … Has three sisters: Livy, Ellie and Halle … Both parents attended Penn State and he has attended Penn State football games his whole life … Father played golf at Penn State from 1989-93 … Hobbies and interests include fishing, hunting, boating and all watersports including water skiing and wakeboarding … Favorite sports memory was playing on ESPN against Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas … Played at DeMatha behind All-America and current BYU quarterback Beau English … One of his favorite hobbies is shark fishing in Hilton Head, S.C. and once caught a nine-foot bull shark … Selected Columbia to obtain an amazing degree, build relationships with a broad spectrum of people and play college football at the highest level in the Ivy League … Also the standard of academic success, the upward trend of the football program and quality of people he met at Columbia were also important factors … Chose Columbia over Bucknell, Harvard and Cornell and interest from Penn State, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, Boston College, Indiana and Northwestern … Enrolled at Columbia College and intends to pursue a Business/Economics degree.
