WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The brackets for the NCAA Singles and Doubles tournament were released today by the host Wake Forest, with four individuals from Columbia taking part in the action in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

The first round of the singles tourney gets under way on Wednesday, May 23, as Victor Pham and Jackie Tang will both take part. The following day, Jack Lin and William Matheson are slated to play in the doubles tournament.

Pham will take on Jordi Arconda from Texas A&M in his first match, with the winner drawing whoever comes out of the JJ Wolf (Ohio State)/Alfredo Perez (Florida) match the following day. The junior and Ivy League Player of the Year finished the season at 24-10, having become the runner-up at the Oracle Invitational this past fall. Currently, Pham holds a singles ranking of No. 27, but was ranked as high as No. 7 during the season.

For Tang, a first round challenge against the No. 5 seeded Patrick Kypson from Texas A&M will start his tournament on Wednesday. This will be the 14th ranked singles player that the sophomore has battled this season, as he stands at 23-12 in 2017-18. Tang was a second team All-Ivy League singles player this past year, and held a singles ranking as high as No. 37.

In the doubles draw, Lin and Matheson make it a third match against an Aggie pair, with the No. 3 seeded Arconda and Juan Carlos Aguilar from Texas A&M taking on the Lion duo. The No. 2 Columbia pair had an impressive season, going 21-7 overall while advancing to the ITA Fall National Championship after beating Pham and Tang during the ITA Northeast Regional Championship. Lin and Matheson ended the year ranked No. 45, but have seen their names as high as No. 21 in the doubles poll.

Columbia’s team season ended this past Friday, in a loss during the Sweet 16 to No. 1 Wake Forest.
