Columbia University Dance Team
The Columbia University Dance Team performs at Men and Women’s Basketball games. We perform pom, jazz, and hip-hop routines and our main focus is to support Columbia athletic teams and provide entertainment at school events. For more information, please contact email@example.com
Auditions are held each year in September. Dancers should be able to execute intermediate to advanced level turns, leaps, and kicks as well as having performance skills. All material that prospective team members will need to know will be taught at the audition. Veteran members must tryout again each year. In the past, the team has ranged from 15-20 members, but the number of dancers is left to the coach’s discretion. Dancers will be notified within 3 days of the auditions as to whether they have made the team.
Please wear form fitting clothing and jazz shoes. Hair and makeup should be clean and professional. Bring a current photo as well as proof of insurance and passed physical in the last calendar year in order to participate.
All Columbia and Barnard undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to audition.
The Dance Team performs on campus and locally at various events, including Columbia Men’s and Women’s Basketball games. The team also appears at home Football games and the annual Coogan Run. Please see our Calendar of Events for dates and locations of performances.
Dance Team members should attain the necessary athletic skills as well as be team oriented and school spirited. Members must be dedicated to representing the school and their team in a professional manner. Being a part of the Dance Team is a rewarding and fun experience, but also comes with commitment to ALL practices, games, and performances.
Columbia University Dance Team is a full year commitment.
