Leon Tabs Career High In Columbia Loss At Dartmouth

HANOVER, N.H. - For the third straight game, Beverly Leon tallied a point for the Columbia women’s soccer team despite a 4-2 loss at Dartmouth on Saturday, Oct. 26. The Big Green saw goals from three different players, including a pair of goals from Marina Moschitto, as the Lions drop to 7-5-3 and 0-3-2 in conference play.

Columbia scored the first goal of the game with a shot low to the right side by Leon at the 23rd minute mark. With the goal, the senior tallied her seventh goal this season for a new career-high. The Lions took its only lead of the game at 1-0. Dartmouth responded with a header for the score at the 30th minute and went on to take a 2-1 lead with another score at the 41-minute mark.

With a one point lead at the break, the Big Green came out rolling in the second half to score its third unanswered goal at the 65th-minute mark. The widest margin of the game came at the 80th minute as Dartmouth took a 4-1 lead.

With seven seconds remaining in the game, Phoenetia Browne dribbled through the Dartmouth defense for the score. The junior blasted in her third goal of the season for a new career high. Columbia will look to bounce back on Saturday, Nov. 2 as they host Yale at 1:00p.m. at the Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium.
