NEW YORK – Men’s golf returns to action this weekend, making the short trip to the Springdale Golf Club in New Jersey to compete in the Princeton Invitational.
The 15-team field will hit the links Saturday for 36 holes with tee times beginning at 7:45 a.m. Sunday’s final round will tee off at 8 a.m. Springdale Golf Club plays 6,390 yards with par set at 71.
This year’s field includes: Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Georgetown, Harvard, Navy, Penn, Princeton, Rider, Rutgers, Saint Joseph's, Seton Hall, Temple and Yale. The Bulldogs from Yale are the four-time defending champions.
Columbia brings a surge of momentum into the tournament, having won the Wildcat Invitational at White Manor Country Club two weeks ago. The Lions held of a fast-charging Army squad to capture the title by one stroke.
Sophomore Harrison Shih matched his best finish of the season at the Wildcat, tying for third after posting a final round score of 71. Junior Brandon Jowers strung together two impressive rounds of golf, carding a 72 and 71, to finish tied for fifth. Senior Andrew Kim had his best showing of the season, finishing tied for 22nd after posting a solid 73 to close out the event.
Columbia and Princeton will see each other one more time after this weekend and before the Ivy League Championships begin on April 25, as each are slated to play in the Wolfpack Spring Open in Raleigh, N.C. on April 19-20.
