Scott Ramsey was tabbed as Columbia's head women's rowing coach in July 2011. In 2012-13, Ramsey earned CRCA Mid-Atlantic Region Coach of the Year honors after leading the Lions to the best season in program history. He guided the varisty eight to a EAWRC Sprints Championship win and the program's first-ever varsity eight wins at the Dunn Bowl (Brown) and Connell Cup (Yale). Columbia also achieved its highest CRCA coaches poll ranking (15th) in program history.

No stranger to Columbia Rowing, Ramsey assisted with two Columbia rowing teams from 2007-09 and returned to Morningside Heights following a two-year stint as an assistant women's rowing coach and head novice coach at the University of Iowa.

Ramsey has experience coaching at every level in the rowing world. He has worked with the US Rowing Women's National Team Pre-Elite Camp, collegiately at both Iowa and Columbia and also was a rowing coach at St. Joseph's Prep in Philadelphia and at the Agnes Irwin School in nearby Rosemont, Pa., where he led the varsity eight to its first Inter-Ac League Championship in 2007.

Having coached at Iowa from 2009-11, Ramsey was the recruiting coordinator for the Hawkeyes' women's rowing program while leading Iowa's novice squad. He spearheaded domestic and international recruiting efforts that yielded one of Iowa's largest incoming classes in recent years.  While at Iowa, Ramsey also created a training program for the technical, physiological and mental development of walk-on and recruited student-athletes.

During his time at Columbia, Ramsey was an assistant with both the women's and heavyweight rowing programs.  He selected and coached the women's varsity fours during the 2008 racing season, then assisted with the 2009 heavyweight second varsity eight during its run to the IRA National Regatta.  That year, Columbia finished 12th in the nation, the highest finish for a Columbia second varsity in program history.

Ramsey graduated in 2004 from Penn, where he was a three-year varsity letterwinner for the heavyweight rowing team. During his senior season, Ramsey led the team as commodore and received the Jack McSorley Memorial Leadership and Spirit Award, along with the Keith Hopkins Award for inspirational leadership.
