James Grate joined Columbia's athletics program in May 2011 as an Associate Athletics Director for Budget and Planning.
Grate, who has worked for Columbia University in various financial reporting roles since 2003, joined the athletics program after three-and-a-half years as a senior financial analyst at Columbia’s University Medical Center, where he worked in the office of the Dean of The College of Physicians and Surgeons.
A professional with years of progressively comprehensive financial responsibilities, Grate has also held positions in the Columbia University Office of Management and Budget, the financial firm Dreyfus and the accounting consultancy Geller & Company.
A true Columbian, Grate earned his bachelor of arts degree from Columbia College in Economics in 1996.
