PRINCETON, N.J. - First-year infielder Nicole Borchard was named Ivy League Softball Rookie of the Week after hitting .450 (9-for-20) with six RBI in six contests last week. Borchard is the third Lions player to earn a major weekly honor by the conference, joining Kayla Shimoda and Emily Snodgrass, who were selected as Player of the Week earlier this season.
Borchard saved her best performances for Ivy League play, going 4-for-4 with a double and four runs batted in in a 12-1 romp of Brown on April 6. In game two of a twinbill against Yale, the second baseman went 3-for-3 with a RBI to lift Columbia to a 7-2 victory. Borchard's big streak has put her as the team leader in batting average (.364) and RBI (23).
First-year pitcher Emily Kenyon and junior outfielder Emily Caruthers were also named to the Ivy League Weekly Honor Roll. Kenyon posted a 3-0 record with a 1.33 ERA and 14 strikeouts in 21 innings of work. Caruthers hit .435 with six runs scored and five stolen bases, batting at the top of the lineup.
