NEW YORK - The No. 16 Columbia women’s rowing team will rekindle its rivalry with Bucknell on Saturday at Overpeck Lake, racing the Bison for the first time since 2011.
The Lions comprehensively outraced Bucknell in their last competition at Orchard Beach Lagoon, defeating the Bison by ten seconds.
Columbia comes into this matchup after a “bye weekend.” On April 7, the Lions fell to No. 3 Princeton, but fought back the next day to retake the Woodbury Cup from Northeastern and Dartmouth.
Bucknell was triumphant last weekend in the Knecht Cup on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J., defeating Holy Cross, Barry (the top-ranked school in Division II), Northeastern, and West Virginia in the Grand Final.
The Georgetown women’s lightweight crew will be on hand as well to take on the Bison in a pair of races to begin the regatta.
