Baseball Adds Home Game Against Sacred Heart
NEW YORK - Columbia head baseball coach Brett Boretti announced Tuesday that the Lions will host Sacred Heart on Monday, May 20 at 12 p.m. at Robertson Field at Satow Stadium in a nine-inning contest.
The game will serve to supplement Columbia's schedule, as it prepares for the NCAA Regional Tournament. Columbia captured the 2013 Ivy League title on May 4 with a sweep of Dartmouth, becoming the first team in nation to punch a ticket to the NCAA Regionals. The NCAA is slated to announce the field for the 2013 NCAA Baseball Championship on Monday, May 27, at which time the Lions will find out where they are headed for post-season competiton.
Monday's contest will serve as the final regular-season game of the season for Sacred Heart as it prepares for the Northeast Conference Tournament that is set to begin on Thursday, May 23 in Lakewood, N.J. The Pioneers will travel to Stony Brook Wednesday, May 15, before hosting Niagara in a three-game set Thursday and Friday.
