Women's Soccer Players Of The Week

NEW YORK - On Tuesday, October 8, first-year goalkeeper Allison Spencer was announced as College Sports Madness Ivy League Player of the Week following her first career shutout against Brown in the team’s last outing on Saturday, October 5.

Spencer also earned co-Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors on Monday, as announced by the conference, for her strong performance in goal in her first Ivy League start. Her four saves and poised defense through 110 minutes of play, held the Bears scoreless in a 0-0 tie.

Up next, the Lions (5-3-2) will return to Columbia Soccer Stadium tonight to host New Jersey Institute of Technology (4-8) at 7 p.m.

Tonight’s contest against NJIT is part of Athlete Ally Week, a weeklong collaboration between the Office of Multicultural Affairs - LGBTQA Programming and Columbia Athletics to raise awareness about the impact of homophobia in sports and the importance of creating inclusive campus communities and allyship.
