Annie Butts was promoted to the position of Director of Enrichment Services for Columbia Athletics on Sept. 27, 2016.
As the Director of Enrichment Services, Butts manages the Department’s career development and tutoring programs. In this role, she provides guidance and career counseling to student-athletes on all of Columbia’s 31 varsity sports teams, manages departmental and career programming, and oversees student-athlete tutoring for the Department.
“Annie has been an important contributor to the success of the Enrichment Services program and our department,” Associate Athletics Director for Enrichment Services Jessica De Palo said. “I know that Annie will continue to work towards our goal of making our program the best in the country. Annie truly cares about supporting our student-athletes and will continue to serve as an important resource for them.”
Prior to her promotion, Butts worked for three years as the Assistant Director of Enrichment Services.
“The past three years at Columbia have been filled with incredible people, experiences, and opportunities and I want to thank Jessica De Palo and everyone within this community who has helped prepare me for this position,” Butts said. “I look forward to continuing the mission of Enrichment Services to make the Columbia student-athlete experience the best it can be.”
Prior to working at Columbia, Butts served as the Membership and Advocacy Intern at Women Leaders in College Sports (previously NACWAA) in Kansas City, Mo. While at Women Leaders, she assisted with membership tracking, outreach and engagement, collaborated on advocacy communications, and helped in the planning, preparations and production of Women Leaders leadership programs and the National Convention.
An Augusta, Maine native, Butts graduated cum laude with her BA in English from Mount Holyoke College in 2012. While at Mount Holyoke, Butts was a three-year starter and senior captain of the varsity field hockey team.
