No. 18 Men's Tennis Starts Ivy League Play on the Road
NEW YORK - The No. 18 men’s tennis team will begin their Ivy League season on the road with in-state rival Cornell on Saturday at 1 p.m.
The match will be the last of a two-week road stretch for the Lions. Columbia made a trip to Texas for their Spring Break trip to face SMU and TCU. Sweeping both matches, the Lions pushed their winning streak into 11 and hold a season record of 13-1. The only loss for the Lions came at the hands of then-ranked No. 3 Georgia in the ITA Kick-off Classic Weekend in January.
Winston Lin remains in the top-15 singles ranking, taking the No. 14 spot in this week’s poll. Lin is undefeated for the season. Teammates Ashok Narayana and Max Schnur make up the No. 12-ranked doubles pair.
The No. 42 Big Red will look to extend a winning streak of their own. Cornell has been red-hot recently, winning five matches in a row. Sam Fleck and Chris Vrabel are the team’s only ranked duo, holding the No. 69 spot. Stefan Vinti has had solid performances in singles, winning his past five matches.
Both teams have faced other Ivy League opponents in the ECAC Championships in February, but they have yet to play each other this season.
