Cemi Abreu joined the Columbia University athletic training staff in August of 2014.
In his role, Abreu is responsible for the prevention, recognition and immediate care of athletic injuries for the Lions volleyball, wrestling and women's tennis teams. Along with his role working with student-athletes, Abreu teaches classes on cardiovascular fitness, hiking and strength and conditioning.
Abreu came to Columbia after spending four years at Quinnipiac University as an assistant athletic trainer. With the Bobcats, he worked with the men's basketball program, while instructing courses on athletic training, fitness and conditioning and Kinesiology and injury evaluation.
Throughout his career, Abreu has held athletic training roles at Mercy College and Wagner College, while previously interning with the New York Mets and at St. John's University.
Abreu, who holds an undergraduate degree and a Master of Science in Exercise Science from SUNY at Buffalo, is a member of the National Athletic Trainer Association and the American College of Sports Medicine.
