Spinelli was named the Athletics Development Assistant in 2015 after graduating with a Master of Education degree in sport management from the University of Texas in 2014. As the Athletic Development Assistant, Spinelli will help increase annual giving participation from Columbia Athletic alumni and alumnae, parents, friends, staff and student-athletes; help support Columbia Athletics volunteer groups, including the Varsity C Club and The Women’s Leadership Council; and assist with database and gift management, internal coordination and communication.
During his time at Texas, Spinelli served as a media relations assistant before being named a graduate teaching assistant where he served as an academic teach and a coach for physical education classes such as weight training and basketball.
Prior to graduating from Stony Brook University in 2013 with a B.S. in business management, Spinelli spent the summer of 2013 working as an administrative and development intern in the Stony Brook Athletics Department, assisting the Senior Associate Director of Athletics with development, sponsorship and marketing strategies. In 2011, Spinelli also spent time working as an intern in the athletic marketing department, helping to promote athletic events, research prospective fan bases and reach out to potential ticket holders.
From 2011-2014, Spinelli has also helped work the Divisioni I Men’s Basketball Final Four (2014), Division I Men’s Swimming Final Four (2014), Red River Rivalry (2013) and the Division I Women’s Lacrosse Final Four (2011).
