Victor Spinelli was named an Athletics Development Assistant at Columbia University in 2015 after graduating with a Master of Education degree in Sport Management from the University of Texas in 2014. He is also currently enrolled in the Nonprofit Management program at Columbia working towards a Master of Science degree from the School of Professional Studies.
As the Athletics Development Assistant, Spinelli’s focus is on increasing annual giving participation from Columbia Athletic alumni and alumnae, parents, friends, staff and student-athletes; helping support Columbia Athletics volunteer groups including the Varsity C Club and The Women’s Leadership Council and assisting with event management, database and gift management, along with internal coordination and communication.
During his tenure at Texas, Spinelli worked as a media relations assistant before being named a graduate teaching assistant, where he served as an academic teacher and coach for physical education classes such as weight training and basketball. He also spent time in Austin interning for Marathon Kids, a nonprofit organization focused on getting kids active.
While at Stony Brook, Spinelli spent four years on the Football team. Prior to graduating in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management, Spinelli worked as an administrative and development intern in the Stony Brook Athletics Department, where he assisted the Senior Associate Director of Athletics with development, sponsorship, and internal strategies. Spinelli also spent time working as an intern in the athletic marketing department where he helped promote athletic events, researched prospective fan bases, and reached out to potential season ticket holders.
In 2012, Spinelli interned for the development and membership department of the Brisbane Lions, an Australian Rules Football team, while he was studying abroad for six months in Australia.
