NEW YORK - The Columbia wrestling team is slated to take part in two duals this weekend, with a Saturday trip to Buffalo, followed by a Sunday matinee at Binghamton. The match at Buffalo will get under way at 2 p.m., before the 1 p.m. Sunday dual at Binghamton.

INSIDE THE SERIES: Columbia and Buffalo will meet for the fourth straight season, as the Lions seek their fourth straight dual win in the matchup.

A season ago with the dual tied, 15-15, Garrett Ryan picked up an 8-4 decision over Jake Gunning to give the Lions the win, 18-15. The re-match between Ryan and Gunning will be one of four likely familiar opponents for Columbia. At 125, Buffalo's Kyle Akins topped Johnson Mai at the Midlands Championships, while Colt Cotten has defeated both 149-pounders for Columbia, Dan Reed and Brock Morgan. At 197, Matt Doggett up up a fight against Nate Rose in his opening bout of the season at the New York State Championships.

INSIDE THE SERIES: Columbia got by Binghamton the last time the two teams met, in a dual that took place in the Blue Gym. The day after topping Buffalo, Ryan earned a major decision in the final match to give the Lions an 18-17 victory.

ABOUT THE LIONS: Columbia last saw action at the Midlands Championships on Dec. 29-30. Ryan and Tyrel White advanced to day two of the tournament, while Jacob Macalolooy also earned three wins at 141.

This weekend will mark Columbia's fourth and fifth duals of the season, having competed against Maryland and Rutgers during the Grapple at the Garden on Nov. 27, and taking four of 10 victories against Drexel on Dec. 10.

UPCOMING: The Lions will take on Rider, NC State and Bloomsburg during the Pitt Duals on Saturday, Jan. 14.
