NEW YORK - The Columbia wrestling team will head to Bucknell University and Sojka Pavilion for the 2017 EIWA Championships, starting Friday.
The Bison play host for the first time since 2011, welcoming the 15 other schools in the conference. Day one gets under way Friday, March 3, with the semifinal and final matches extending to the following day.

A SEASON AGO
Tyrel White and Markus Scheidel earned automatic bids to the NCAA Wrestling Championships, as White finished fourth at 165, while Scheidel was a third place finisher at 157. Columbia finished in 11th place, picking up 44.5 points along the way.
RECENTLY AT THE EIWAS
The Lions matched the NCAA automatic bid output from 2015 last year, as the squad two years ago scored 82 points and claimed fourth. In 2014, three wrestlers punched their tickets to the NCAAs, when the Lions put forth a fifth place effort.
TOPS ON THE TEAM
Junior heavyweight Garrett Ryan leads the Lions with 22 wins during the 2016-17 campaign, with classmate Tyrel White (165) close behind with 19. Ryan and Alec Kelly (133) both have four falls to their name, while Ryan is the lone leader in major decisions with five.
