COLUMBIA’S STATUS
• The Lions fell twice at Southern Miss and are still in search of their first win of the season.
• Columbia has held a lead in seven of its nine games this season and have lost three of its last five by just one run.

 ABOUT TULANE
• The Green Wave snapped a six-game skid with a 3-2 victory over Nicholls State.
• Grant Witherspoon leads the offense with a .333 batting average and five stolen bases.
• Jarret DeHart has four homers and 17 RBI.
• Chase Solesky has made six appearances, including three starts on the hill. He has a team-best 1.93 ERA. 
• Corey Merrill is 1-2 and leads the pitching staff with 18 strikeouts.

This week’s series will be the first ever meeting between the squads.

COLUMBIA VS. THE AAC
Columbia holds a 8-20 record against teams currently in the American Athletic Conference. The Lions’ last win came at home against UConn last season. Columbia has defeated an AAC opponent in each of the last three seasons (USF in 2014, Houston & East Carolina in 2015, UConn in 2016).

CITIZEN KANEMARU
Junior Randell Kanemaru has hit safely in all nine games this season and leads the squad with a .361 batting average, two homers and nine RBI. He is a two-time All-Ivy League selection and was tabbed a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American in 2014.

BIG BART
Senior Kyle Bartelman has struck out just once in 33 at-bats. That ranks him 12th in the NCAA in that category.

LET’S TURN TWO
Columbia turned six double plays at Southern Miss on March 16, the most for the program since at least the 1990 season. The Lions have 10 for the season lto ead Ivy League and rank 29th in nation.

‘TY’ YOUNG
Junior righty Ty Wiest has had a solid two starts in 2016 after missing all of 2016 due to injury. He has a 2.08 ERA with eight strikeouts in 8.2 innings and batters are hitting just .208 against him.
